When a lady with few prospects meets a man determined to prove her she is wrong to believe she has no real future ...I am glad I have seen Outlaw King as it gave me some insights of who was who.This book was such a rollercoaster ride, between court strategies, betrayals, murders attempts, i have been for a lesson in history, even if it was the anecdote, I learned a lot.I confess I feared it might be boring read as court tales are far from my favorites.But there were so many intrigues and actions, I was always wondering what will come next.Elizabeth is a kind of a superwoman on her own, she might have an avenir all mapped out as a spinster but she is so much more, she has navigated the intricate webs of the court, she knows how to act and react and the cost of each of her actions. Why when Edward is showing an interest on her, she sees no future for them whatever his rank at the court.Edward is a philanderer bored by his own excesses. So when upon his return to his brother’s court he sees again the woman who stirred unknown feelings when they first meet, he decides it is time he sets a new meaning to his life. And one thing is sure, once he has reached a decision, he adheres to it.While their romance begins as a mouse and cat game, they soon arrive at an understanding that they care for one another, up to them to move forward and make things true.In between, they find themselves caught in a web of deceits and betrayals, they will need to untangle to see who deserve their trust or not.4.5 stars for this fast-moving and steamy tale.A special note for the awesome cover, it is mesmerizing.I was granted an advance copy by the author and preordered my own. Here is my true and unbiased opinion. I enjoyed this book. The setting was well depicted, and interesting. The plot is intriguing and held my attention. Edward, the H, is strongly characterized as a somewhat jaded man taken by surprise by the strength of his own rapidly developing feelings for Elizabeth, the heroine. He is younger than I would have guessed based on his life experiences; he is 27 to Elizabeth ‘s 21.She has grown up living at the Royal Court, the daughter of parents more concerned with their own personal interests then her well-being. “I am but tinder to your spark” she tells him at one point, and that describes their relationship very well – they are burning hot together. Elizabeth is actually very erotically adventuresome for a virginal lady of quality!I thought this book was very good, but be aware that it is heavy on plot, it is not a quickie 2 hour read. This is a book to enjoy when you have time to really pay attention to the well-structured story, with unexpected twists. This book is my introduction to this author, and I have now already ordered 2 additional titles from her through Amazon.
